At the End of the Day, It’s About the Tracks

I see a lot of posts about how to make a good DJ set. What effects to use. How to transition. When to loop. Which filter sounds best. How to keep the energy moving.

And yeah, all of that matters. I use it too.

But you can have every trick in the book and still have a boring mix.

For me, it always comes back to the tracks.

Does that song make you turn it up? Does it make you move a little without even thinking about it? Do you suddenly know the chorus even though you haven’t heard the song in five years?

That’s the stuff I love.

Dance Club Podcast has never really been background music to me. I’m not trying to create some super serious deep club experience where you need to be standing in a dark warehouse at 3 AM to understand it.

This is everyday dance music.

Put it on in the car. Take it to the gym. Play it while you’re getting ready. Blast it in your kitchen. Or maybe you’ve had a crappy day and just need something loud enough to get you out of your own head for a while.

I love big hooks. Familiar songs. New tracks that make me stop and go, wait, what is THIS?

Then I get to put all of that together and see where it goes.

Sure, I want the transitions to sound good. I want the mix to flow. I’ll play with effects when they actually add something.

But the tricks aren’t the reason I started doing this.

I just really love finding great dance music and playing it loud.

And if that sounds like you too, you found me.
